The intention of the artwork was to give a voice to the Palo Alto Community and to create an artwork that talked about the City Halls initiative of Open Government.

I was responsible for creating the visuals for the proposal to win this commission. I co-imagined the experience, lead designer, created the interaction diagrams and data flow of the artwork, selected and worked with the developers and managed the project from start to finish. The artwork displays 3 categories of news feeds taken in real time from social media: Global News-displayed as blue circles , Natial News – purple circles, Palo Alto News – green circles. Also the artwork takes input from the Palo Alto Community and displays it as thought bubbles. People can upload comments on site using the touchscreen or remotely using the website http://www.conversationpaloalto.org/. I was also responsible for designing the ever changing backgrounds and the gradient animation overlays as well as working with the developers to assign specific behaviors to the moving data such as: center gravitational pull, repulsion and attraction, fly through , circular path behavior among others. I was responsible for designing the UI of the interactive touchscreen.

The project has been on displayed everyday since 2016 at the entrance of Palo Alto City Hall. It was the winner of the 2016 Collaboration of Design + Art Awards and was featured on their magazine. It also received the 2017 Americans for the Arts Award (2017 Americans for the Arts Award. The PAN Year in Review program is the only national program that specifically recognizes the most compelling public art throughout the United States.
